Hi all! This week I was able to interview the lovely USA Today Bestselling and Award-Winning Author of Historical Romance, Rose Gordon. One just cannot get enough of romance! And one just cannot get enough of her books. I would thoroughly recommend you read Her Sudden Groom. Emotional.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
There really wasn’t any figure or great ambition of mine that pushed me into writing. I just sat down one day and started to tap out a story. I quickly fell in love with it and I’ve been doing it ever since.
Why did you choose this genre? What was most appealing about it and most difficult?
I chose my genre because I love the Regency. The chivalry. The carriages and balls. That practically everyone knew how to dance. And well, it’s fun to dream about wearing their ballgowns!
What is your goal when you begin writing a story? The sort of emotions you want the reader to feel when reading your book?
I like to laugh and I want my reader to, as well.
Sometimes serious subjects aren’t quite so painful or depressing when rain-wrapped with humour.
When do you find the best time/place to write?
Mornings up and in my office for sure. Anytime or anywhere else–forget it! I have two kids, a husband and a high maintenance dog either I get in my words while they’re still sleeping or I find myself sneaking off to get in a sentence here or there and it takes a LONG time to write a book one sentence at a time.
If you were to choose a favourite book you have written, which would it be?
Well, this is hard. It’s like answering which of my boys is my favorite. But to be completely honest the answer is whichever one I’m working on or just finished! Unfortunately, this is common for writers as that’s the hero/heroine they’ve recently spent the most time with. But hey, if we weren’t excited about our book, then why should readers be anxious to read it?
What is your favourite book you have read and author?
Yikes!!! I like too many books and authors to even list!
Your advice to prospective/new writers trying to break into this field?
Write with your heart.
Don’t worry so much about everything being just perfect that you lose sight of doing what you love.
Favourite Food: Pizza – does that make me immature???
Favourite Colour: Green.
Favourite Flower: Tulips.
Favourite Day: Saturday, it’s not only my day off work, but it’s the day my whole family gets to spend together.
If you were to create your own Fantasy Land, how would you describe it?
Watson Estate (The house/estate where Her Sudden Groom, His Contract Bride and Intentions of the Earl take place.)
Thank you so much for having me on today! I have totally enjoyed our chat.
To all the lovely avid readers of Historical novels and Regency Romance, and to all the great fans of Rose Gordon, be sure to read her latest book The Perfect Lady Worthe!
