Good morning, afternoon and evening all! I was actually debating whether to title the post as ‘It’s finally here…’Guardian Angel: Me, Us, Them’…to purchase’, or to play around with words in order to come up with a more ‘authentic?’ title. Playing with words, clearly won. But…
It really is finally here! I have gone through literally typing down my imagination on my phone, editing it to create a structured story, adding some more splashes of imagination, editing once again, purchasing black feathers and, with the aid of my mum, taking shots of them arranged in various ways, creating a cover with the image, some more editing, pulling myself out of the ‘fear of failure’ mood, then some more editing with a friend to finally finally finally publishing the story! All up on Amazon now (click here to purchase).
Would it sell? I’m not entirely sure, but I’m an optimistic person, and extremely happy that I’ve actually completed it. So what have I achieved from all this? Pushing my writing skills to a different direction – I tend to write political articles for a newspaper, thus, more professional and serious. My blog, on the other hand, is more informal and can definitely identify the style. But, writing this book required myself to order my crazy imagination into a specific manner and structure it. I would definitely advise that when an idea hits you, you should write it down then and there. Whether it’s on your phone, or a diary, notepad, even a scrap of paper, just write it down. It can play a key role in anything you write, or even what you write! I also learnt that anyone can create a story, it’s just your imagination written down or typed up onto your laptop. Apart from my writing style, I learnt how long the process could be and the amount of patience needed. Paranormal Romance was not what I expected to write, but, I heard that writers sometimes end up writing in a genre that they do not read and trust me when I say that I have never a Paranormal book. Fantasy – Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, yes, but nothing to do with angels. One thing that I did not like about the process is creating a book cover. You have an image in your head right? Why is it hard for someone to understand your idea? To picture your image? I mean, I took the effort to take pictures to edit, just so in that they wouldn’t need to take it off the net! Or is it just me?
Anyways, suffice to say, I learnt loads so if it sells well, then that’s great, if not, then at least I learnt something from this process and it will help me when I complete my next book.
Once again I’m putting it up on AM hours! Enjoy
