I Can

I couldn’t help but add a chorus to this. I blame the other poem/song!

This one didn’t rhyme before and considering that I wrote it when I was typing a chapter, I was not concerned at all – thoughts on paper, as usual. But I just had to go back to make changes. Feelings change, and you can’t control your thoughts especially when you’re writing a book just full of emotions!

Do let me know what you think!

I Can

I can be the pillar for you, to lean against,
Can be the safety net, if you fall,
I can be the cushion for you, to soften it,
No, I can be anything, to stop it from happening at all,

I can’t and won’t be the tissue for you,
That’s discarded after one use,
But I can, and will, be the one for you,
To stop the tears that your eyes produce,

I can watch you walk by,
Can watch you hold hands with another,
But I can’t stop this pain within me,
Can’t deny this pain, that each day I suffer,

I can fight the voices in your head, for you,
To remove all self-doubt,
Can be the soft breeze, for you,
To make sure that all confusion is blown out,

I can give you my eyes,
To help you find the dreams you want to achieve,
Can give you my voice,
When others decide to leave,

I can watch you walk by,
Can watch you hold hands with another,
But I can’t stop this pain within me,
Can’t deny this pain, that each day I suffer,

I can give you my hands,
To remove all obstacles in your way,
Can give you anything and everything,
Give you me, just for you to stay,

Call me a coward, as much as you want,
But I can’t beg you for that one glance,
Yet, please look at me as a person,
Please just give me a chance,
Just one chance,

I can watch you walk by,
Can watch you hold hands with another,
But I can’t stop this pain within me,
Can’t deny this pain, that each day I suffer

If I only had the courage to tell you,
The three words that my heart has been shouting, silently,
If only my mind stopped constantly whispering,
To stop dreaming, and to face reality,

Our paths will cross only as friends,
I will be invisible, but still there,
Smile to myself, each day,
And accept that life is, and will, never be fair,

So, for now,

I will watch you walk by,
Will watch you hold hands with another,
Hold back the words playing on my lips,
And accept this pain, that each day I suffer
